Breastfeeding Support Group – will continue to meet on Thursday Mornings from 11:00am -12:30pm. This group is Public Health Nurse led so come along and meet new friends and receive useful tips and guidance. This group is open to all mums-to-be and new mums who are interested in breastfeeding.

Mevagh Craft Group – meet weekly every Thursday morning from 10.30am to – 12.30pm in the Resource Centre, new members welcome.

LEGO Workshop – will take place at the ‘Busy Bees Parent and Toddler Group’ session on:22nd April 2016, 11am – 12pm in Mevagh FRC, Downings.  The workshop will be provided by The School Door and the facilitator will lead the children in working on a number of activities to develop communication and language skills and to foster imaginative play. “Stop Food Waste” – as part of the National Stop Food Waste Challenge, we are commencing a FREE 4 week workshop on Monday 25th April 2016 (please note change of date) from 10:15am – 11:15 am in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre. These workshops are aimed at families and will provide an interesting and fun insight into how we can reduce household food waste. At the end of the 4 week course a cookery demonstration will be provided on making chutney/jams. Booking is essential. To book your place please contact the centre on 9155055.

Paint Your Own Furniture Workshop for Parents and Children – Would you like to upcycle a piece of furniture with your child? It could be painting a small item together such as a small stool, a side table, a bird box, toy storage box or a coat rail? Mevagh FRC will be hosting a once-off fun workshop for parents and children on Saturday 30 April from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Our instructor will be Kathy from Revive, which is based in Dunfanaghy.  Samples of her work can be seen on Facebook page. Booking is essential as places are limited. Cost is €3 per family. Paint and sanding materials will be provided. Please note that only small projects can be done during this workshop, so if you can carry it – you can paint it! Boom Sprayer Pesticide Application Course: A waiting list is in operation for this two day course that will cover candidates to use the Boom Sprayer anywhere in Ireland and also qualifies them to use the back sprayer on their own land only.  All PPE Gear will be supplied for this course.

Mevagh Community Garden Want to learn how to grow your own vegetables?  Enjoy the great outdoors or make new friends?  Well if you do, no better time like the present. There are a few places free at the garden for this year’s growing season. Cost €60. This entitles you to two drills, a raised bed outdoors and a raised bed in the poly tunnel.
