Mulroy Community Health Forum – will be hosting an Information & Networking Event on Monday 28th November at 7.30 pm in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre.  Topics on the night – What is Our Community Health Forum, What is Our Aim, What Do We Do, Who Do We Link With and Who Can Be Involved.  These events are being supported by Donegal Local Development Company Ltd and North Donegal Community Network, under the Social Inclusion & Community Activation Programme (SICAP).

YOGA – classes run on a Tuesday evening at 6:45pm in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre.  Beginners are welcome.  If interested, please book directly with Victoria on 087 3297169.

 MEVAGH CRAFT GROUP – continue to meet weekly every Thursday morning from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre.  New members are always welcome.

 BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP – will continue to meet on Thursday mornings from 11:00am to 12:30pm. This group is led by the Public Health Nurse and is open to all mums-to-be and new mums who are interested in breastfeeding.

BUSY BEES PARENT & TODDLER GROUP is an informal group which provides an opportunity for young children and their parents/carers to meet from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon in the Resource Centre. Tiny Tunes will be taking place on Friday 25th November during Busy Bees. Tiny Tunes is a fun music and movement for your little movers and shakers aged 3 months to 5 years. Cost is €3 per family.

News

Scoil Eoin Baiste will be holding their annual Christmas Craft Fair/Coffee Morning on Sunday 27th November from 12.00 noon-4.00 pm in Carrigart Parochial Hall. Lots of crafters from the North West will be showcasing their produce. There’s something for everyone from Jams to Jewellery to home baking and Christmas decorations. Please support this worthy event as all funds raised go towards activities for the schoolchildren.

Parents Plus for adolescents (11-16 yr olds) – Are you having difficulties with your teen or would you like to learn some tips and guidance on positive parenting? The Parents Plus Adolescents Programme is a practical and positive course focusing on effective communication, problem solving and building positive relations.  Topics Include: Getting to know and connecting with your teenager, Communicating positively and effectively, Building your teenager’s self-esteem and confidence, Negotiating rules and boundaries, Teaching teenagers responsibility, Positive discipline for teenagers, Managing conflict, Solving problems together. Morning & Evening Workshops can be made available and will be taking place in Milford. For details & bookings, call Margaret or Pauline on 91 55055 or 087 922 8944.  Workshops are FREE but there is a charge of €10 for Parents Pack.

BUSY BEES PARENT & TODDLER GROUP is an informal group which provides an opportunity for young children and their parents/carers to meet from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon in the Resource Centre.  Cost is €3 per family. On Friday 18th November there will be a brief group meeting to discuss yearly plan. Input from all parents/guardians is greatly appreciated.

Pilates new classes will begin on Tuesday 15th November with Beginners class at 10:00am followed by improver’s class at 11:30 am.  Advanced classes will start on Wednesday evening 16th November at 7pm.  Contact Orlagh on 087 2819746 for further information.

 Mevagh Men’s Group – will have their monthly meeting on Tuesday 8th November at 7.30pm in the Resource Centre with an evening of songs and stories with Ruairí Friel & Sarah Cullen.  New members always welcome.

SLING CLINIC AND BABY WEARING – will be here in Mevagh FRC, Downings on Friday 11th November from 10.30am – 1.00pm. Deirdre from Blooming Gorgeous is a Baby Wearing Consultant.  Some of the benefits of baby wearing are a happier baby, which cries less, sleeps better and is calmer. Benefits for the caregiver are they learn baby’s cues, bonds more easily and hands are free to do other tasks.

safeTALK – Suicide Prevention Workshop

A safeTALK workshop will be held in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre on the 7th November at 7 pm. The training will prepare you to identify people with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with pain in their lives. Through their works and actions, they invite help to stay alive. The training is suitable for anyone who wants to help to prevent suicide and is prepared to become suicide alert.
