Community Employment Vacancy – a vacancy exists for a Receptionist / Administrative Assistant with Mevagh Family Resource Centre, Downings.  Applicants must be over the age of 21 and have been in receipt of a social welfare payment for at least one year.  Position is 19.5 hours per week at Community Employment rates.  Anyone interested in this position should contact the centre on 074 9155055.

 Christmas Party Night – The Grape & Grain Wine Bar & Bistro will host a Christmas Party Night in aid of Mevagh Family Resource Centre on Saturday 1st December.  Tickets are €35, which includes a 3-course dinner menu and dancing to DD & the Delta Boys.  Tickets are available from Mevagh FRC, The Grape & Grain or Logue’s of Carrigart.

 Mevagh Craft Group – meet every Thursday morning from 10:30am to 12:30pm in Mevagh Family Resource Centre.  This is a drop-in group and new members are always welcome.

 Busy Bees (Parent, Baby and Toddler Group) – for babies to 5 year olds, continue to meet every Friday morning from 10am to 12noon. Cost €3 per family.

 Mevagh Youth Club – Youth drop in every Friday from 2pm to 4pm in Resource Centre.  Enjoy pool, table tennis and games plus so much more.  Drop in – chill out! For secondary school students.

Irish Class for Beginners – Mevagh FRC, in conjunction with ETB, propose to run a Beginners’ Irish Course, on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm.  Contact the Centre on 9155055 to register.

Courses at Mevagh FRC – Donegal ETB courses, Mevagh Family Resource Centre – Tourism & I.T.; Essential I.T.; Essential Skills (Reading, Writing, Spelling & Numbers); Contact Mevagh FRC on 074 9155055 to register your interest.

Breastfeeding Support Group – This drop-in support group meet in Mevagh Family Resource Centre on the first Thursday of every month, from 11:00am to 12:30pm.  The group is led by the Public Health Nurse and is open to all mums-to-be and breastfeeding mums.  Feel free to pop in to meet other mums and enjoy a cuppa. The group will next meet on Thursday 7th December.

Busy Bees (Parent, Baby and Toddler Group) Bring & Buy Fundraiser –  This group, for babies to 5 year olds, meet every Friday morning from 10:00am to 12:00 noon. On Friday 8th December, Nora Kavanagh will be providing a sensory playtime session. All Mum’s, Dad’s, Grandparents, Carers are welcome to bring your little tots along. Cost €3 per family.

Mevagh Men’s Shed – will be selling handmade Christmas crafts at Carrigart Craft Fair & Coffee Morning in the Parochial Hall on Sunday 3rd December from 12 – 4pm. They will also be in attendance at Fanad Craft Fair on Sunday 10th December from 2 – 5pm. Everyone welcome.

Other Notes:

Christmas Craft Fair and Coffee Morning: Scoil Eoin Baiste annual Christmas Craft Fair and Coffee Morning is taking place on Sunday 3rd December from 12 noon to 4pm in The Parochial Hall, Carrigart. Admission: €3 per adult / children free (tea/coffee included). All proceeds raised are in aid of Scoil Eoin Baiste.

Downings Tidy Towns – Would like to thank all who supported their annual Coffee Morning in Josephine McBride’s house, Downings on the 4th November. Total amount raised was €525, all proceeds raised were in aid of Downings Christmas Lights.

Festive Christmas Tea – Mevagh Family Resource Centre will hold their Annual Fundraising Festive Christmas Tea in the Centre on Friday 8th December from 10am – 2pm.  Come along, sample our festive delights and browse our Bric-a-Brac stall! All Welcome.

Mná Mhíobhaigh / Mevagh Women’s Group – Next meeting takes place on Monday 27th November at 8pm in the Resource Centre, the event will be the annual Christmas Night for group members.  

Bun Chlub Mhíobhaigh / Mevagh Junior Youth Club (7-12yr olds) – There are a few places left to join the club. Activities take place every Thursday afternoon from 3:15 -4:30pm. Registration fee is €25 per child then €2 per child/week thereafter. Please contact the centre for details on 91 55055.

CLG na nDúnaibh Minor Board AGM – Following on from another successful year on the playing field, the Minor Board AGM will take place in the GAA Centre on Monday 27th November at 8pm.  Anyone with an interest in helping out at training or becoming involved in the committee are asked to attend this meeting.

Downings Tidy Towns – Welcomes all to the switch on of the Christmas Lights on Friday 1st December at 7:30pm at Mevagh Family Resource Centre, where there will be Carol singing and Santa will arrive by Fire Brigade, followed by light refreshments in Downings Bay Hotel.
