Festive Christmas Tea – Mevagh Family Resource Centre will hold their Annual Fundraising Festive Christmas Tea in the Centre on Friday, 8th December from 10am – 2pm.  Come along, sample our festive delights and browse our Bric-a-Brac stall! All Welcome.

Bun Chlub Mhíobhaigh / Mevagh Junior Youth Club (7-12yr olds) – there are a few places left to join the club. Activities take place every Thursday afternoon from 3:15-4:30pm. Registration fee is €25 per child then €2 per child/week thereafter. Please contact the centre for details on 91 55055.

Busy Bees (Parent, Baby and Toddler Group) for babies to 5 year olds meet every Friday morning from 10.00am to 12.00 noon, so why not bring your little tots along for a morning of fun.  Cost €3 per family.

Mevagh Craft Group – continue to meet every Thursday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre.  Drop-in and new members are always welcome.

Mevagh Youth Club – meet every Friday evening from 7.30pm to 9pm. Check out our Mevagh FRC Facebook page to see venue for the evening.  The Club is for Secondary School pupils and regular activities include: volleyball, indoor football, dodgeball & much more, €2 per session.  For further information, call the Centre. Have Fun – Get Involved!

Other Notes:

CLG na nDúnaibh Minor Board AGM – Following on from another successful year on the playing field, the Minor Board AGM will take place in the GAA Centre on Monday 27th November at 8pm.  Anyone with an interest in helping out at training or becoming involved in the committee are asked to attend this meeting.

Mevagh Men’s Group – will be having a “social evening” on Tuesday 14th November from 7:30 -9:00 pm. New members are welcome.

Mevagh Book Club – will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday 14th November at 8pm in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre. If interested in joining an informal reading group, why not come along on the night.

Mevagh Carers Group – Mevagh Carers group meet once a month in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre. A warm welcome is extended to anyone in the community who cares for a family member or loved one. The next meeting takes place on Tuesday, 14th November at 11am in the Resource Centre, Downings with guest speaker Aoife Valley who will be speaking on Self Care. YOGALATES – Mixed level/Improvers’ class currently running on Tuesday at 6:30 pm and a beginner level class on Wednesday at 10:30am. Venue: Mevagh Family Resource Centre. Contact Victoria on 087-3297169 for more information.

PILATES – commenced on Wednesday 1st November from 7:00pm to 8:30pm for 8 weeks. This class is geared towards intermediate level, but beginners are welcome – modifications for all levels. Men are more than welcome! Cost is €80. Pilates equipment will be provided. For bookings or more information please contact Daisy directly on 083-0487757.

Mevagh Notes

FÁS COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT SCHEME (19½ hrs) – A part-time vacancy exists in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre for Caretaker/Cleaner from Monday – Thursday (6 – 10pm) and Friday (9.30 – 1pm). The Caretaker/Cleaner would be responsible for the general care and maintenance of the building, opening and closing of building as deemed necessary, making sure the building is kept in a tidy state inside and outside, preparing rooms for meetings etc, and assisting in library / reception as deemed necessary. The ability to speak Irish is an advantageous but not a necessity. The position is to commence in August. Candidates must be over 25 years and on a Social Welfare payment.
